The end of our journey

We are at the end of our journey at the MDMC2007. We have met our group goals buy creating the required items. Gail was fantastic to work with for the script and pod cast, Tom did an amazing job on the video and pod cast voice recording and Mary Ann and Melinda were wonderful at completing the other assignments for the team. If I attend this conference in 2008, the standard has been set high for the types of teammates I would want to work with.

Personally, I was not completely successful at attending all of the classes to increase my skills. This was due to the aggressive work schedule to complete the assigned tasks. I feel that is a bit ironic because the conference experienced it's own "learning curve" as the schedule did not lend itself the required tasks versus class schedule. If this can be corrected for next year, the conference will meet its objectives.

As I end my final post on the blog for the Sense of Wonder team, I would like to close by saying that the instructors were very helpfull and I enjoyed my journey at the MDMC2007 and the Milwaukee Public Museum.

Last Day GP

It's early on the last day of the MDMC 2007. The audio podcast is done, although I have some questions yet on the ID3 Tags. I also want to ask about the overall sound quality. It is not as smooth as I would like and the tweaking I did didn't get it as good as I'd like. It was hard because Tom's voice is much louder than Heidi's and they are on the same track. I suppose I could cut them and put them on separate tracks to get it a little better. . I'll be asking for the opinion of all of you early tomorrow.

The enhanced podcast became a bit tricky and I wished I had attended the adv. pod casting like I intended. I will look at the Apple tutorial and perhaps atomic learning yet tonight as I haven't been in there yet. It is late and perhaps I will work a bit on it yet tomorrow. I'd like some transitions between the artwork to look a bit smoother. I know that wasn't a requirement, but it seems many are doing it.

Finally, I hope the conference happens again next year as I would definitely come. But then we can all be working on a new system OS 10.5.? , and refining and relearning some of these skills again. For me, I would like to do more to upgrade my skills on the digital media production. I would hope to meet more new partners in education and have another group that was as good at collaborating as you guys were! Thanks, it was great to work with you.

I can see the light!

I can see a light at the end of the tunnel and I will see the script for the pod cast in my sleep tonight. I cannot imagine people listening to my voice in the pod cast as they view an exhibit in the museum. I have mixed feelings.....flattered or freaked, depending on how I look at it. If nothing else from this crazy week, I have found a backup career as a voice talent. (Oh, I can hear the laughter from my group floating over Lake Michigan from that comment.)

Thursday Day Three - GP

Well, the voiceover/recording is done, at last. It was great working with Heidi and Tom as they did a great job on the narration.
We found ourselves still editing the script as we recorded. Heidi knows it by heart!

Now I will spend time putting it together and doing a little editing. I hope I can do a job that does justice to the piece. It's a little scary doing this part of the project, so I made sure the first thing I did was make a backup of the garage band piece.

The plan is to do the audio podcast for the museum, but the I would like to enhance a second version with pictures that will help add interest.

MDMC2007-Day Three

Day three is beginning with a sense of urgency......time is of the essence and it's counting down. Lots to do yet. Lots of think about. Not frantic yet, but thinking about being there.

Tuesday Reflections - GP

Day number two really saw things begin to fall into place; however, our group did feel pressured to give up attending some of the sessions we had planned as we needed to work on the project. in order to finish it. We worked on the script for hours and talked with the curator twice before our final approval. It will be Wednesday tomorrow and nothing has been recorded yet. Feeling some time pressure, but if the recording happens as planned tomorrow morning at 9 AM, we may all breathe a bit easier. I think editing will go on when more informational sessions are happening. Time will tell.......

I do think our group is doing well on collaboration in that everyone feels a real responsibility to contribute in every possible way to ensure the success of the project.

Video Near Completion

I spent 4 hours last night editing video and still photos. I have the video down to just under 4 minutes. There is no narration, but I did use Claudia's live presentation of the first diarama. Hopefully it's to your liking and meets all requirements.
